The HyperX Cloud Stinger is a bulky-looking headset which is quite light on the head and over the ears. It has a flexible headband that can easily fit on even on a large head. Most of the body is of plastic and therefore could be called a bit fragile as it could be damaged if dropped from a height or a if a notable amount of pressure is applied on it. The headband is of metal and has been provided with a cushion for comfort of the user.
The earpads come with cushions ringing the outer parts that sit and settle down around the ears.
The only button on the left earpad is the power button which slightly protrudes from the rest of the body. There is an LED indicator that shines in fluorescent green while the device is charging. Below the power button lies the volume knob used to alter the volume of the device. The device uses a USB-C type charging port. The cable comes as part of the package, along with a USB connector.
Performance
The pairing is swift and when done the LED blinks a constant red. The headset provides a 2.4Ghz gaming grade wireless connection with 7.1 surround sound. The headset does not come with noise cancellation. The microphone can swivelled up to mute it and back to unmute. The atmospheric and background noises are optimally registered.
Verdict
The HyperX Cloud Stinger Core gaming headset is specifically meant for gaming and does a decent job. It fits quite comfortably and the drivers mostly produce distortion-free sound. For people investing in gaming headphones for the first time, this headset is a good choice as it doesn't make you go broke and delivers acceptable levels of performance.
