NGROK INSTALLATION, SETUP AND USAGE

Ngrok is a really useful software that allows people to pentest and even perform attacks over the wide web without actually revealing your IP Address. In this post we will cover how to install, setup and use Ngrok.

Steps

1. Visit the Ngrok website and create a new account(for first time users).

2. After creating a new account, you will be taken to the download page. In this post we will be covering how to install on Linux platforms. Download the package for Linux and unzip it into a directory of your choice(YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO USE NGROK FROM THIS DIRECTORY).

3. Open a terminal in the directory containing Ngrok and use the key provided in your dashboard in the website to activate Ngrok. And with this the installation and setup procedure is complete.

4. To create a simple http tunnel to your localhost, simply do "./ngrok http 80".

5. You will be provided with a http tunnel url. Now if you upload a webpage into your local server, visiting the provided link will direct anyone from any network to your webpage. It also means you will be able to host apps as well.

6. To make a TCP connection simply replace http with TCP in step 5 and 80 to any dynamic port of your choice.

NOTE: THE ADDRESS PROVIDED BY NGROK IS DYNAMIC, MEANING THAT THE ADDRESS WILL BE DIFFERENT EACH TIME YOU USE NGROK.
