Dualboot Kali Linux With Windows 10

Kali Linux is an operating system that is primarily used by security experts to perform penetration testing and bug bounty hunting.

In this tutorial we will see how u can Dualboot Kali Linux on a device with Windows 10 already installed on it.

Requirements

  • A PC or a Laptop....obviously
  • A 4GB pendrive (minimum)
  • Windows 10 pre-installed
  • Latest version of Kali Linux
  • Latest version of Rufus
  • And lots of patience

Now that you have all of the required software, lets get to it!!

Step 1- Creating a Bootable USB

After downloading the ISO of the latest version of Kali Linux, we need to create a bootable usb using which we can install Kali. This is where the good old Rufus comes in. Open up Rufus and make sure your 4GB USB is selected. Next, click the CD icon and select the downloaded Kali Linux ISO. Now we are ready to install Kali Linux onto the USB.

Now just click start, and wait until the process ends.

Step 2- Creating Partitions

Once you have prepared your Bootable USB, we need to create partitions to install Kali on. Open up Disk Management Settings. Create a new partition of 15-20 GB(minimum) from an existing volume by shrinking it.

Step 3- Setting up the BIOS

After creating your new partition, restart your device and open up your BIOS. After entering your BIOS, make sure disable Secure Boot and Fast Boot. Also change your Boot Device order and make it so that your USB media is in the top most.

Step 4- Installing Kali Linux(Finally)

Restart your device once again, and this time once it boots up, select the USB device in which you installed Kali Linux (this is for those who who haven't changed the boot order). Once this is done, the Kali Linux setup screen opens up. You can either choose Graphical Install or just Regular Install(not much difference).

Choose your region and language and keyboard layout and then continue. After this the setup asks you to set your Network Preferences. You can set it as you wish. After this you will be requested to set a Hostname, set it as you wish, it is nothing more than something like a Username. You can skip entering a domain name or you can set one if you wish to. After this you will be asked to choose the partition in which you want to install Kali Linux. Note: From Kali Linux 2020.3 onwards, you cannot set the root password, you will not be able to login using a root account, this can only be setup after installation from a regular account. Carefully select the partition that we created earlier. After this select delete partition and press continue. Choose the option named as "FREE SPACE" and then select the option "Automatically partition the free space". Continue the process and next choose "All files In One Partition" and continue. Finish the partitioning and save to disk.

After this, the installation should begin and in the middle, the installers ask where you want the GRUB Bootloader to be installed, Select your Hardrive and continue. If asked what softwares to install, select whichever u want and continue.

That is it people, you have successfully DualBooted Kali Linux alongside Windows 10.
